I am an avid sari lover. If I must spend money on one thing, it is on a handmade sari. I had been toying with the idea of creating my own line of sarees for a while. Having worked with artisans for a really long time, I decided that I wanted my sarees to be an expression of myself. The sari, according to me, is a garment that every woman drapes to express herself. Besides being one of the oldest garments, it is timeless. Some of the oldest designs can be worn even today. In the early days, it went from being functional to formal to bespoke but it stayed and will stay forever. The sari for me is like an artist’s canvas. I use various textile embellishment techniques to create my pieces. I love colour and play with that a lot. While, I haven’t worked with traditional artisans really to create these pieces, each piece is made by hand.
