Journeys
Travelling to new places and discovering new cultures makes me genuinely happy. I think the bug comes from the fact that I am an army officers daughter. Growing up, we lived in many cities and changed many schools. I learnt Bhratanatyam from the age of 5 and performed in many cities which added to my travelling feet. Once I started working, I visited several villages, to work with artisans. These trips humbled me and honestly, I was the happiest out there amidst my artisans. Work and family holidays, made me travel to various cities around the world. Each of these journeys has enriched me and broadened my horizons.
Having worked with artisans from all over the country, I also do curated craft trails. I have done so for Breakaway holidays and Vistas. Now I take people interested in understanding Indian crafts on these craft journeys. During these trips, they understand the workings of various craftsmen and see the history of that craft/s and the history around that place…like a journey through time. This also helps the artisans in selling directly to a customer and interacting with them. It is a wonderful exchange between the maker and the buyer.
