Bespoke Tailoring

In 2007, my friend Anshu Arora was leaving Delhi to move to Bangalore. She was closing her tailoring unit and was very worried about leaving her tailors with embroidery women without jobs. It was at that time, that I was planning to start my brand for children’s clothes. On a lark, I told her that I’d take over her unit and I did. I realised soon enough that starting a store wasn’t as easy as I’d imagined it to be and sustaining the tailoring unit, even harder! Hence the need for producing for other people became necessary. So I worked with some great buyers producing their designs for them. This sustained the unit and the store. I did clothing and home textile production. I also designed the school uniforms for a beautiful school called Matri Kiran and did the production of the same for many years.

However, due to personal reasons, I had to scale down the unit and shut down the store. Today, I do bespoke tailoring of clothes and home furnishings for a clientele, who like my sense of aesthetic. Sometimes I design and produce for them and at others, I just produce their ideas.
